How the boards work
Every research manuscript is handled by the Editor-in-Chief, the Managing Editor, or an Associate Editor with no conflict of interest in it. Decisions rest with that editor, informed by at least two independent reviews. Board members who submit their own work are excluded from every stage of its handling; see the peer review policy.
